Low Cost Healthcare in New Jersey
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) throughout New Jersey offer affordable health care that many in the state aren’t aware is even available. This little-known low cost healthcare is offered primarily in the form of a discount for qualified patients. The discount is called the Sliding Fee Scale – a tiered pricing structure designed to lower the cost of health care services to a level a patient can afford. In other words, if you qualify for the Sliding Fee Scale, you’ll pay what you can afford for health care. Sounds good, right?

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are community-based organizations that provide comprehensive primary and preventive care to underserved populations. The main advantage of visiting an FQHC is that they offer high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services to individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay.
These centers are usually found in underserved communities or in the midst of underserved populations and they offer a Sliding Fee Scale tiered pricing for patients that qualify for the special discounts. Qualifying for the Sliding Fee Scale is as easy as providing some information about income and household size, among other requirements such as proof of identity.
