About Me
and How this Site Came About

My name is Robin and I have worked as a marketing consultant for healthcare centers that offer accessible and affordable healthcare to folks without health insurance or to those who are underinsured. Unbeknownst to many, this type of affordable healthcare is available throughout the United States.

Commonly referred to throughout the healthcare industry as “FQHCs,” these health care centers where these doctors, dentists, and mental health counselors operate are just under the radar and specialize in providing quality healthcare to underserved populations and/or communities throughout America. The providers and healthcare professionals at these FQHCs (Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers) provide medical care and other health care that is on par with other providers in the same communities – with one big difference that affects millions: cost. FQHC services are available at a discounted rate – based on income – to those who qualify for their Sliding Fee Scale. The Sliding Fee Scale is a tiered pricing structure with minimal to deep discounts offered only to those who qualify.

Why I felt it was important to build this website

While my work with FQHCs has been primarily in the state of Florida, these centers are located all around the country. And most look and operate in the same way other health centers in their areas. They are genuine healthcare centers that see not only patients that qualify for their Sliding Fee Scale but also those patients that have traditional health insurance, or Medicare, or Medicaid.

I’ve known about FQHCs and their Sliding Fee Scale for more than 10 years. But just recently I was made acutely aware of the tremendous need for affordable if not free healthcare as a situation touched a family member leaving them in need of such services. My family member with an acute dental issue requiring thousands and thousands of dollars he did not have in order to restore his health and he was not aware there was a nearby – more affordable – option right in his own backyard at a local FQHC with dental services – AND a Sliding Fee Scale tiered pricing plan based on my family member’s income and household size.

It’s my hope this site will bring Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers a little more into the forefront of everyone’s mind so that no community and no person or family lacks the quality doctor care, dental care, and mental health care they need – even without insurance.
